Wide Open Spaces

Maplewood, NJ

This stately, 3-story Edwardian home boasted an enormous dining room and foyer, but lacked a comparably sized living room, kitchen and master suite.  The first phase of the project addressed the first floor, creating a large living room, family room, kitchen, mudroom and powder room and an enlarged outdoor deck. The second phase of the project took over one of the bedrooms to create a master suite and 2nd floor laundry closet. PHASE I

This large living room resulted from the combination of the former living room space with a sunroom.

A small addition at the back of the house enabled the creation of a mudroom and powder room.

Behind the dining room, a family room was created with a wet bar.

The kitchen is flooded with light from custom height doors to the expanded deck.

The kitchen's original brick fireplace was exposed to provide some separation between the kitchen and the family room.

The remodeling continued downstairs with a new media room and new egress window letting in plenty of light.
